TE KOTAHITANGA O TE IWI O NGATI WEHIWEHI
HUI-A-TAU : MARAE COMMITTEE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
WEHIWEHI PA, MANAKAU, HOROWHENUA
TUESDAY 7 NOVEMBER 2000, 7.30 PM
TREASURERS REPORT
Kia ora ano te whanau, Many things have happened since our last AGM
in December 1999. It has been a real learning experience with the role of
treasurer but thoroughly enjoyable. My year personally was devastated by the
discovery of my father who had died and was found on the morning of our gala
hui on the 14th of October. My whanau have been overwhelmed by the
support of many especially Ngati Wehi Wehi. Our chairperson Te Hope Huia was
one of our angels sent to our whanau. My father Stan died on the same day as my
mum Margaret did five years before.
The 1999 – 2000 accounts from the 1st
September 1999 until the 31st August 2000 were presented at the AGM
and had been duly audited by Rod Agar who had previously audited our accounts.
The report was presented to the meeting that showed that we had a positive cash
flow but as always this need to be monitored.
Some notable events during the year
- Recipient of a grant from Pub Charity of NZD 20,000 to update /
upgrade our wharepaku. Many thanks should got to Hoko Gardiner for
developing this relationship through the Whanau Fund Raiser days held at
the Key West hotel
- Grant of $1,100 was received from Raukawa District Maori
Council for cutlery/crockery replacements;
- Income still to be realised during this next financial year
included the proceeds for the Calendar initiative, and koha for the use of
the marae for hui.
- We had a successful fund raising day, which was lead by Mokai and her sisters. This fund raiser
lasted all day and everyone had a good day playing housie
- The annual gala which was held on the 14th October
falls outside our financial year and was not included in this years report
but was very successful indeed.
- We have set up a new fund raising activity that came from a
suggestion from one of the whanau. This was called “No Pain Koha”. This
involves setting up a bank account and putting monies into this account.
The details are included on our Web Site re bank account numbers etc. We
were able to show at the AGM that a number of people inside and outside
New Zealand are putting money into this fund raising account.
- Last but not least the committee have spent monies on our
facility including a new floor, some new ovens, some totara timber for
future use
My thanks and recognition should go to all
whanau for their support as well as Uncle Nuki who has a lot of experience in
marae activities especially during difficult times and has been a good ear for
me
